Believe it or not, obesity is one of the biggest perpetrators of most lifestyle diseases today.
Global obesity has doubled since 1980, In 2014 more than 1.9 million adults (39 percent) 18 years above were overweight and of these over 600 million (13 percent) were obese., Evidence shows that developing countries, overtime economic progress has passed on obesity to the less privileged. There are enough indication from which we can expect the poor to experience obesity and the associated health conditions in the long run.
This obesity shift is disconcerting since the majority of the poor continue to grapple with the problem of high levels under nutrition. Therefore the risk of the poor getting exposed to a double whammy under nutrition and obesity. Although the gaps remain large, analysis indicates a weakening of social-Economic pattern of obesity over a relatively short period using caste and the corresponding economic hierarchy. women state of obesity between age 16 - 60 years rose sharply in a short period from 14.4 percent in 2005 to 23.59 percent in 2012. It can be seen that the obesity rate more than doubled over a period of 7 years.
One of 4 women among the wealthiest was recorded to be overweight in 2005, which rose to 4 out of 10 in 2012. In sharp contrast 1 out of 10 among the least wealthy class was obese in 2005 which doubled to 2012.
All this has been triggered with social economic trend of dietary diversification among the middle and the affluent classes. People are eating out of food with high sugar, saturated fat and salt. There is an evident trend if eating restaurant's and processed rather than eating home food.
We have embraced westernized food which has contributed to sedentary lifestyle and urbanization.
Non-communicable diseases surged rapidly among women during 2005- 2015. The majority of those suffering from high blood pressure and heart diseases were in rural areas in 2012 while those suffering from Diabetes were in urban areas 2015.
Obesity is associated with the rise in the prevalence of each of these diseases, among those suffering from high blood pressure, the proposition of obese rose from about 14 percent to 46 percent, those suffering from heart disease saw the rise from 32 to 49 percent and the Diabetes from about 46 to 50 percent.
In the end it is worth contemplating if all of us can take an initiative of leading a healthy lifestyle.

LET US LOVE OUR GOD GIVEN GIFT,BODY.
All of us,we are given the responsibilities of taking care of our healthy.Ironically many people have become very busy on their daily activities to the expense of their health.True we are living in times where people are working tirelesly to put food in their table in hard way, but what is our Gods plan on our lives? Our Gods plan is for us to live a healthy life.God himself has promised us in Jer 33:6 that "He will will bring Health and healing to his people ,I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security".
Healthy is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being,from the defination we have three main aspect, physical, mental and sociai welfare.
Physical entails our daily activities, most of people we dont take care our of our health seriously.Remember our health should be given first priority.instead we have taken other Issues seriously and we forget about this.
Most of people have become inactive.Do we engange our bodies?in activities like runing, walking,or any other activity?not at all,From our house we board "boda boda"to the stage, matatu and then to the office,we seat for for 9 hours and then back home. The routine is the same for the whole week,My question is,when do we engage ourselves in pysical activities? We call it treating ourselves the weekend is here with us,we eat junk food, then beer or wine not knowing the harm we are causing to our bodies. On monday we continue the same way.The Amref have said that lifestyle diseases and death in kenya has increased from 27% to 33% and projected to increase to 60% by vision 2030.Shall we continiue with this and wait this happen?we have the solutiom with us,we need to check on our lifestyle.
Lifestyle diseases have increased due to innactivity,Our feeding habits just to mention afew. Our Fat and Sugar intakes has increased and thats why people are becoming obesed, and the result is being sick, either diabetes, blood pressure or any other diseases associated to lack of exercise.God hs given us life let us respect and honour this. Our bodies are His temple.
On mental we have become sick,we have lost trust on our creator,we are being reminded that He has good plans for us.If God Himself has promised us about knowing us,why should we worry?Let us avoid stress and live a stress free life.Remember stress is equieted to be as cancer in our bones
Who are people around us?are they adding values in our lives?are they encouraging us to move forward? We should be very carefull on people who sorrounds us.There people who are discouragers and dream killer. This people will discourage you on anything God has inspered to you.Learn your friends and weigh them.Agood friend should impact you and encourage you.Remember not always you are supposed to share what you have,Your dream is not everybodies cup of tea.
LIHEMP season started,we are asking you to live a God given life and fulfill your purpose on earth. The Bible says my people are perishing for lack of knowledge, let us not perish for lack of knowldge.Infact we should be Agents of change.

Lifestyle Diseases
Lifestyle diseases are more common as many people have become more industrious. They are caused by inappropriate relationship of people with their environment.
Lifestyle diseases are different from other diseases because they are potentially preventable and can be lowered with changes in diet, lifestyle, environment and by supplementary with vitamin D. In most cases Natural health as a form of complementary medicine can be used alongside convectional medicine to treat and manage your chronic health problems.
High level of cholesterol levels for example can often be treated with nutritional supplements and vitamins such as vitamin D along with eating healthy diet and engaging in regular exercise. In 1990, the top 3 causes of death in Kenya were pneumonia, tuberculosis and diarrhea. Back then communicable diseases accounted for about 60 percent to all death.
In year 2000, most deaths in Africa resulted from heart diseases and lifestyle diseases accounted to 60 percent to all deaths. Following this, people need to re-think on their feeding habit's and to exercise to avoid this preventable lifestyle diseases.
